Racism was a word that used to have meaning. But it has become just another one of those impossible-to-define, trump-card words meant only to end conversations and start the “action” that the activist wants to start, whatever that may be. If this is true in the buzz culture around us, it is exploded even further out of proportion in the institutions that exist to ensure that no conversations about issues ever happen again in the future, the public schools.
The logic is simple, for those who can still do logic. If the teachers can’t be held to a standard, why should anyone expect the students to rise to any standard? Answer: “You’re a racist”.
From “The Stream”:
From the article:
A federal judge in New York has struck down a test used by New York City to vet potential teachers, finding the test of knowledge illegally discriminated against racial minorities due to their lower scores.
Of course there is racism. The racism occurs when politics and liberal policies infused into public education fail minorities. But say as much would mean looking into the mirror and admitting as much. It’s lots easier to be sanctimonious and accuse everything else. Of course the whole thing will only get worse. Sub par teachers will turn out sub par graduates. And when they can’t pass a test, you’re a racist. Now on to more important things, like social justice and teacher raises.
